Youth Festival in USA: 'Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?'
By the grace of God, this last weekend, from May 28th – 30th (Memorial Day Weekend), our religious family in the United States was able to organize its 10th Annual Youth Weekend. After prayer and reflection, the above quote from the Gospel of Mark was chosen as the theme for the festival. This question, asked by the rich young man in the Gospel, and which should be the question of every young person in the Church in their encounter with Christ, takes on an even greater significance in an age when the question our society (blind to the transcendent) puts to young people is rather “how can I seek pleasure in this life?”
“It is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20). If one loves the Cross, it is impossible not to proclaim it. And this is the most divine of all works, as St. Dionysius states: “Of all divine works, the most divine is to cooperate with God for the salvation of souls.” What is most wonderful and divine is to cooperate in the salvation of souls and in bringing them home; for in this, God’s own activity is reflected and this imitation is the greatest glory of our Religious Family.
